i disagree orchestras are awesome and the horn is a main part of ahm. Why would dave and roger bash this album, its amazing, for me its a main part of floyd. i have to admit 2 weeks ago i hated this album based on what roger said about it, but after listening to it i realized this is a beautiful album. ahm is the most unique pf album by far an you should give it another listen.

Atom Heart Mother is an amazing album! As much as I respect the band's opinion on their own product, I completely disagree with them. Anyway, If they really thought it was crap, then why'd they play it live so damn much?? I have many, many live recordings of AHMS and some of them are killer, especially the ones which feature the orchestra and choir! If you don't like the brass, listen to a live version without and see what you think.

The only brass on AHM that is annoying is on Summer 68. Thy really could have toned that down a bit more!

I was listening to AHM this morning, and knowing how Pink Floyd hated it, I wanted to know what other fans thought of it - so here I am. I think it is their best song, exciting, odd (but I like that in songs) but it flows well.

One thing I heard on television was that the orchestra rebelled: they were classical snobs who didn't think things like syncopation or 'feel', so they refused to play the beats as the composer/conductor wanted. Hence it has an odd sound.

I've actually found myself liking this song more and more, but instead of the album version with the orchestra, the versions they did live without one. I think those versions are superior to what made the record.
