To Rick's credit
He stay on, even after he was given the boot & then retained as a session player for The Wall tour.

What does anyone make of this? Was he being a good sport? Or did he need the cash? Or both, or what? Views? thoughts?

RE: To Rick's credit
I think getting a payday is always nice. That has to be one reason. But I also believe because he felt it was his duty to play keyboards and I think on something as important as The Wall, Rick didn't want to see someone else playing his part. As well, I think some of the band members wanted him to stay. I think it has to be mix of that as well as some other things.

from what i've read when roger wanted him out ofcourse he didn't want to leave but he agreed to leave. but he asked if he could saty on to finish the wall and the tour because he did put time into it and to leave before it was finished and have someone else play the parts would have been an insult to rick. so roger said he could finish the project as a paid session musician.

Ironically, he's the only one of the four who made a profit from the The Wall tour - as a salaried musician and not a band member, he was not obligated to pay the extremely high costs of mounting such an elaborate production.

He wanted to stay because he had two young children to support.

Without the input of Richard Wright every Floyd album would be sadly lacking. His playing on `Piper`set it apart from every psychedelic band. Listen to his playing on "Scarecrow" . Likewise on "Saucerful Of Secrets ". His song on "Atom Heart Mother " ,"Summer `68 just says everthing about that era . Whether it is synth ,piano , Hammond , look no further than this dude.

look at the sky ,look at the river, is`nt it good ?
