Eric Clapton And The Beatles
Eric Clapton's relationship with members of The Beatles carried on passed his presence on "All You Need Is Love", "Here Comes The Sun" and guitar work in "While My Guitar Gently Weeps". And before and after the break up he did record on albums and live performances with John, George and Ringo. But why not Paul?
It is unconfirmed but I did once read that Eric had some contribution to McCartney's Back To The Egg album, perhaps playing with the other grand musicians line up in "So Glad To See You" or "Rockestra Theme" but he is not credited in the liner notes nor have I found such claim anywhere else other than one book published in 1980.
Can anyone give us any quotes or supposed comments from Clapton as to why he has never worked with Paul? I suppose it could be the reverse and that Paul just has no need to work with Clapton. I cannot think of any Clapton song or album that McCartney has worked on either.
Can anyone offer insight?

Well yeah there's that and maybe an appearance together in some Prince's Trust performance but I still wonder why the two never collaborated in a studio recording.

Well actually they did play in the studio together on While My Guitar Gently Weeps (like you said above). They both played together that day Clapton on guitar, doing the solo and Paul on the bass... (that was 6 september 1968)

I found a dutch Eric Clapton journal that mentions that...

You mean Eric Clapton is Canadian, British and Dutch or he was sharing a diary with someone?

I am kidding. You know? Like making a joke?

Eric Clapton quit The Yardbirds because they were pursuing a more pop oriented approach. Although he would (much) later adopt the same method, perhaps Paul's unapolegetic commercial direction was before that time. It's a shame. Great tunes like Monkberry Moon Delight and Too Many People have some of the worst guitar ever recorded.
