Ricks Best Songs
Since we all are crying our eyes out for Rick, May he rest in peace, I thought that it could be a good idea if we here on PFO made a playlist containing some of Ricks most brilliant pieces of arts.
Just write the songs and i will update the thread, and perhaps eventually make a poll.?
By the way, i hope i wasnt the only one to cry while listening to The Great Gig In The Sky Sad

The Great Gig In The Sky

Stay
Summer '68
Remember a Day
Us And Them
Shine On You Crazy Diamond

It's particularly poignant, if not for the words "I am not frightened of dying, any time will do, I don't mind. Why should I be frightened of dying? Theres no reason for it, you've gotta go sometime". The vocals by Claire Tory also gives strong resonance to the emotions we are feeling, and no doubt will feel whenever we hear this song now. I remember being particularly impressed with Rick's keyboard work on this song at the Royal Albert Hall (30th May '06). I just watched him play the whole opening of this track, even though I didn't want to miss Gilmour on the slide, that's how perfect Rick was that night. It was beautiful.

I was really hoping for Gilmour to do another tour, and for Rick Wright to be there beside him. With Rick's passing, something will definitely be missing from Gilmour's performance too. I mean listen to Echoes, High Hopes outro, Time and Great Gig In The Sky from the On An Island Tour and imagine those without Wright.

My favourite Wright music is without a doubt part 9 of Shine On. Summer '68 and Wearing the Inside Out are my second favourites.

RE: Ricks Best Songs
This has been in my head all evening. It has a laid-back, reflective, quiet beauty...the same qualities that made the man so endearing.

Stay and help me to end the day.
And if you don't mind,
We'll break a bottle of wine.
Stick around and maybe we'll put one down,
cause I wanna find what lies behind those eyes.
Midnight blue burning gold.
A yellow moon is growing cold.

I rise, looking through my morning eyes,
Surprised to find you by my side.
Rack my brain to try to remember your name
To find the words to tell you good-bye.
Morning dues.
Newborn day.
Midnight blue turn to gray.
Midnight blue burning gold.
A yellow moon is growing cold.

Icy wind of night be gone...this is not your domain

RE: Ricks Best Songs
two great ones:
PAINTBOX
IT WOULD BE SO NICE

His singing is pivotal in piper too: Astronomy domine, matilda mother etc etc etc

the way his voice meshed with Gilmour's in echoes is something that i will forever love. It is a deep loss that those two voices will not join together in harmony again.....
