Some Other Jackass Wrote:mikoyan29 Wrote:Yeah, I just have the lens that came with the camera and the low end 70-300mm zoom lens (no Image Stabilization or anything like that). I think I want a 450mm lens next but that will probably come next year.
and a 500 gb external hard drive, 6 4gb Extreme III SD cards, Kata 3 in 1 camera bag, Manfrotto tripod, etc.
SD? What is this SD thing you mention? I have Compact Flash cards for this camera. I bought the Canon not quite so deluxe Camera bag. It has four slots for lenses, a slot for the camera and some extra pouches. I got 2 4Gig cards and I don't think I'll need more (I get about 700 pictures out of each).

RE: New Camera
Oh yeah. I guess I assumed it used SD cards.
I have a hard time resisting a sale on either memory cards or blank cd-r 'cause I feel like I always need to have plenty available.
But I myself will infact be getting an external hard drive very soon due to my love affair with the digital camera and saving 80% of the images I capture.
We once had this new Dell computer with 80 gb of hard drive space. Then my wife bought us (me really) the K10 and the hard drive is down to it's last 16% of free space I think.

RE: New Camera
Ooh question to anyone (probably "dad"). I have the pentax k1000, a 28-80mm lens,a pretty small flash, a strap, an 85-200mm (I think, too lazy to look) lens, film, and batteries to fit into a bag. The bag I have now fits everything very tightly, but not efficiently, the way it all fits is the big lens has to be on top of the camera, so I have to take it out to get the camera out. So, any ideas for a cheap bag that would fit everything, and maybe a little room for expansion.

The Pentax sling bag is really a neat little bag I think. First start with your price range and what you want in a bag. Bags are exciting and addictive to me. I have had 8 which is not many compared to others. You could make a cushion divider and put the 200 mm under the camera until you think you might want to save some cash for a new and larger bag.

RE: New Camera
I guess I must of forgot to put my flickr page in here. All the pictures from NYC are done with a cheap $100 camera. The rest are done with my k1000. Mind you, this is my first roll of film done with it.

drk229, do you think you want a backpack/sling style bag or a shoulder bag?
MiG's sounds like a good bag as well. Tell Jonny and me more about it and a price range.
The Pentax sling goes for about $40 in a few places online.
I have a small shoulder bag that measures 10" long, about 6" deep and 5" wide with a flap over the top a zippered pocket on the front, zipper mesh pocket inside in the top and one velcro divider that might give you a tad more room for your k1000. I might have had the same set up as you now have in this bag at one point as well. I might even just give it to you after I show you some pictures and we both think about it.
You forgot to rotate several of your images on flickr, by the way.
