chromeboomerang Wrote:Cevor, she started it, not I. Yet you attack myself instead of the instigator. & Glukk, I NEVER said my musical taste was superior to yours Glukk ever. I wish you'd stop inferring something I never stated. I merely mentioned my view regarding 1 particular artist vs your view.

The lyrical examples do not strengthen the previous argument by the by Cevor. If you'd read them, you'd see they are realist in nature, quite the opposite of the argument.

Apparrently you don't like the idea that I also can have a view.

Cevor..
People can express their opinions about bands however they choose, you consistently turn it into something personal, it's ALWAYS been that way.

This is an ugly & false comment. I have NEVER started an issue with another poster. Rol, Jeff or any other. They don't like my view, they initiate. I wish you'd get that straight for once.

It doesn't matter who started it, it needs to end right now.

I find the lyrics shallow and pretentious sometimes, it's my opinion.

If you were aware so much of what goes on then you'd remember me defending you when you're right (read by the rules of posting).

I've never asked you to not voice your opinions, I've consistently asked you and everyone else to not be personal while you do it, nothing more.

I have a complete understanding of how things go, your opinion on that falls outside the rules of posting. Please cease this now.

Please return to the thread and EVERYONE enough of the baiting and personal shots. That is all.

And now the final solution can be applied.

Ok. But nothing personal about pointing the pretentious comment is off the mark via the literal definition of the word. & HE started it, not she. Sorry my bad.

Fair enough in your examples, I was speaking generally. You happened to have quoted my favorite Rush tune using Subdivisions! guitar

edit: I already addressed this.

As to realism, Rush were refused service in their early days in restaraunts because they had long hair. Seen more realism than most any of us in later generations ever have. I only have 2 Rush records, not what one would call a hardcore fan.

Back on topic:

Does anyone know of any Australian rock bands, beside AC/DC, that have sold 100mil+ records?

As far as I'm aware, the only other notable Australian band apart from AC/DC are Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, and probably Crowded House, although Neil Finn's from NZ, and he practically is Crowded House. And I don't think any of them have ever reached 100 million.

Ahh, it feels good replying to this thread without having to discuss Rush.

Hmm, that's a shame. There's alot of great Aussie bands (plus the ones we poach from NZ lol) that aren't internationally recognized and most people wont hear.

The Hoodoo Gurus are a pretty cool Aussie band too, sort of like an 80s version of something you'd hear on Nuggets. They weren't well known, but I think they're notable.

Off-topic, I know, but I just wanted to mention it.

The Angels are awesome. Even Bon Scott was a fan.
The Skyhooks, Australian Crawl, Mental As Anything (originally from NZ), and Cold Chisel are also great aussie bands, just to name a few.
