Selling PF stuff?
Hi,
Is there a section of this forum or elsewhere dedicated to selling Pink Floyd stuff? I am looking to sell a record which ebay keeps taking down because I guess it is a bootleg. Sorry if this is the wrong section to post this question in even. Any help would be much appreciated.

If it is a bootleg you're not going to be allowed to sell it here either.

RE: Selling PF stuff?
Oh. I guess that makes sense. It is a pretty official looking bootleg, I bought it in a store, but I guess it is a bootleg nonetheless. I am selling all of my vinyl(2000+ records), a very small fraction(maybe 50 or less) are bootlegs like this one. Any general advice on how to sell them? I know this seems like a kinda sketchy subject, but I am not a bootleger or dealer or anything, just a longtime collector selling his collection which includes a few items like this. Thanks for the quick reply. Being a huge floyd fan, I think I want to start posting here more often.

My general advice on selling bootlegs is don't. They were never meant to be sold, they were recorded by fans for fans, then some companies decided there was a profit to be made and claimed the boots as their own, whether it is official looking or not is a moot point, there are zero boots which cannot be gotten for free, including typically artwork, liners notes etc. As far as the official releases that should be an easy sale anywhere really

That is all true now, and I agree with you, but this was bought before there was the internet, or even really CDs(its a vinyl boot). I'm pretty sure there are people that are interested in collecting stuff like this, not just for the music. I also agree the people who made a ton of money making and selling bootlegs from the 70s to the 90s were very shady and greedy, but like I said above, this is something i bought a while ago, and am looking to no longer own.

Then break the cycle...give away the boots..after all, it wasn't right then to buy/sale, it's not right now.

I know this is a little bit offtopic but can anyone explain to me what "bootleg" technically means? I worked out that it's a rare recording made by fans, not official, is it all a bootleg is?

Pretty much, yes.

And now the final solution can be applied.
