Would a Boss ME-20 do well?

In all fairness most likely not. However in saying that ive never used one. The reason i reccomended the Boss GT series apart from the GT 10. Is that they have the ability to sound analog which is ideally what u want, even though they are digital pedals they have the functions that can make it sound more analog and keeping the guitar tone intact.

The older and indeed newer Boss multi-effects dont do that they manipulate the input signal and dont keep the original guitar tone intact. They lack that certain warthm and tube lke quality which is ideally what you want for playing Floyd / Gilmour or indeed most major artists.
