Three Different Ones Wrote:Jesus Christ. How is this even happening in a thread ABOUT SOMEONE'S DEATH, for Christ's sake, aren't you a moderator, and would blast someone else if it was in any other circumstance? The guy is an icon, like him or not, and the name calling, and the focusing about the negative isn't what this thread is about.

And i'm not even gonna touch the Hitler thing, because that's just plain stupid. Also, "talk about things you were alive for" is such a snobby retort, just because we weren't alive doesn't mean we can't fully understand something, i.e. the legacy/impact he or any other artist before our time had.

So in summation, last time I checked, this is a thread to celebrate the positive about him, celebrate his life, his legacy and his music, so let's keep the petty name-calling to a minimum? I feel like I shouldn't have to be the one saying that.

Being a moderator doesn't mean I can't have and express my opinion. If you disagree, fine and as usual your response speaks volumes. It isn't up to you to decide what a thread is about.

And now the final solution can be applied.

Well, it took surprisingly long for Godwin's Law to apply

Godwin's Law doesn't speak to the use for intentional exaggeration to make a point, it applies to it's misuse. Of course very few things, if any, are comparable. Other's inability to grasp the difference are reflected above.

Philintheflesh Wrote:It`s weird, but I always had a feeling he would never complete those dates (I never thought it would be because of his death, though).

Same! I just had this hunch literally from the moment he announced those dates that it wouldn't happen. Couple of guys at work had tickets and I kept telling them they'd wasted their money because it was never going to happen...I feel kind of bad now Blink Although, as you said I never imagined it would be because of his death, I thought he'd pull out due to ill health or something like that.

It saddens me though that almost the instant his death was announced the backlash started. I don't agree with a lot of things he did, I wasn't a particular fan of him as a person, and I think there will always be unanswered questions, mysteries, speculation and of course there are certain allegations which are impossible to ignore. Yet Michael Jackson's impact on music and popular culture is undeniable. He is an icon, and I don't think anyone could deny that really. I understand that people have their own opinions of him as a person, and not everyone is a fan of his music even, and I respect that totally. But this man meant a lot to so many people, so out of respect for him, and those who loved his music, lets just remember Michael Jackson for what he should be remembered for.

RIP

I'm with Cevor.

EDIT: Jacko has requested not to be buried or cremated so that he can be recycled into shopping bags so he can remain white, plastic and dangerous to kids.
