Yes, I've noticed this as well. I love AMLOR. Maybe because it's considered a David Gilmour solo album, not really a PF album, due to the lack of input by Nick and Richard at the time. But that's like saying all The Police albums were really early Sting solo albums. Anyway, I still enjoy it.

People hate it because it sucks. Plain and simple.

I know I believe in nothing but it is my nothing

A lot of people probably hate it because it doesn't sound anything like Pink Floyd.

RE: a momentary lapse in reason
This topic has been done several times before. History will show that AMLOR was David's reaction to Roger leaving, it was done quickly out of necessity and turned out being one of the band's most popular (based on sales) and accessible albums (including the tour to support it). Of course it sounds like Pink Floyd, the signature sound remains, David's guitar. It's an evolution of the band.
Plain and simple there are all kinds of opinions out there, but the numbers don't lie, sorry haters, fail.

Haters should watch "Which One's Pink - The Pink Floyd Story" it really tells the tale of how things happened with all of the band members interviewed. I think I'll listen to them.

And now the final solution can be applied.

RE: a momentary lapse in reason
A lot of fans dislike this album for the same reason why a lot of early fans hated anything after a Saucerful of Secrets , the band changed internal leadership and things split into two camps , Roger and Dave . It is human nature to get upset about changes in the things we really care about and when Roger left the mantle of leadership on the floor and said the band was dead , a lot of people believed him , but a lot of us were really gateful when it was picked up and dusted off by Dave . So I am not surprised that the arguement continues to this day by people who most likely weren't even born when all this was going on , we are all fans (short for fanatic) of the band and the music and tend to be passionate in our opinions . I like that .

I love division bell, Meddle, SFOS, all of the Pink floyd transition albums, infact, all of the pink floyd albums... Except one...

AMLOR, by the way, it isn't a momentary lapse in reason, its of.

The Reason it is bad, is its lack of GOOD songs... The only ones that are good are Learning to Fly, Terminal Frost, and Sorrow.

Not only that, but every other song is annoying. A New Machine is sudden singing that has a super high volume that degrades after a couple seconds, then starts again, and again, and again...

Dogs of war would be find, but I can't handle that repeated noise for 6 minutes.

So, all in all, I Hate AMLOR Because it sucks.

I love AMLOR because of its contemporary sound.

I really don't care if it was rushed, I care about how it sounds...
