Obviously, to be able to sound like David, it would take years of extensive playing, as well as david's ability to project his soul into each note... That isn't exactly what I meant by this post.
Moreso, David's guitar tone in his songs. I am looking to buy a board, but not sure which one would be the best, as I have heard many recommendations on different boards. Ive seen some were good for the studio, and crappy live, and vice versa.
Which board would be best for studio, and also live? Obviously, I am not looking for the most expensive board as I wouldn't be able to afford it, but would still like an idea on what is 'the best fir the buck' board I could get my hands on. Then of course, I'd need a better guitar since I only have a standard strat right now... but I think I should focus on getting a board right now and setting up a small studio with this computer that i'm about to replace for school.
Thanks for any help!
get a classic strat, tele and les paul gold top with P 90's, a DD3, a dunlop rotovibe and some reverb and use a tube amp . Play the notes that count, nail those big bends and concentrate on feel and finesse.

on the 'dogs' solos DG plays a telecaster run through a leslie.
on 'run like hell ' DG plays a telecaster or his vintage broadcaster with a delay or 2.
on 'ABITW' part 2 DG plays a gold top les paul with p 90 pick ups .
on 'sorrow' DG plays a fender strat with emg active pick ups. he later stopped using these b/c they are 'too fat', they don't sound like a 50's strat. with the clear high end on pole piece pickups.
on 'Money' he plays a full 2 octave guitar with humbuckers made by evans. It can be seen in use on the studio segments on PF in Pompeii.
On 'marooned' he uses a digitech whammy pedal to get those huge swoops & intervals.

pedals in a daisy chain suck the signal and using a by pass switch or multi by pass can give you that 'plugged straight into the amp' sound when you click the pedals off and by pass them, so that when you are not even using them they are not sucking and leaching the real tone of your guitar.
