Ok, here is one that has been bugging me. On Time there is a mystery bass instrument in the album version. In the intro it doubles the guitar part, playing long root notes E and F#, and then of course the A.

You can still hear it during the Gilmour vocal sections and solo. It sounds a little trombonish, but I don't think that is what it is.

Was wondering if anyone knows that instrument, and if it is a synth how you would punch it in for a program like Reason.

I don't know what instrument you're talking about and I rarely listen to The Dark Side of the Moon anymore, but Rick used to play the trombone. I wouldn't be surprised if he'd hauled it out in the studio for "Time".

You could be right, my first guess is that it was a trombone, but they must have cut all the high freqs out, it is very muffled. If that is what they did it could be hard to achieve with a synth with my skill levels. Argh.

Possibly a muted trombone? Again, I have no idea what you're talking about, so I'm just throwing out wild guesses here.

He started using it on The Eclipse Tour before it was named Dark Side Of The Moon.

It Remained in his studio setup up until Animals.
