RE: Nick's Drumming Style (Poll)
Nick Mason.. Definitely my favorite drummer. It isn't like the drumming people are used to, he has his own style. Above, it was said his drumming goes unnoticed, or that it doesn't stick out. I think it stuck out, but in a great way. I guess it's something I listen for - - making it stick out on purpose. Overall, I think his drumming is relaxed...when it needs to be, it generally fits the rest of the music, whether it is upbeat or relaxed.

I would pick him over any of the following:

Vinnie Colaiuta
Gavin Harrison
Mike Portnoy
Dave Weckl
Steve Gadd
Thomas Lang
Akira Jimbo
Bill Stewart

He is a much more mature and tasteful drummer/percussionist and musician then any of them.

I completely agree with you here. Nick Mason and Neil Peart are my favorite drummers. theyre great guys and they know music/percussion

I said "in between". There were times when his drumming was really intense and frenetic because that's what the song called for, but then there were many other times when it was very subdued and laid-back. I think he balanced it well.

mason 's drumming around 70-73 was like a cross between Ringo Starr and Ginger baker. I end up playing a bit like him when I play/record the drums because I like those flowing fills on the toms.
