Does The Final Cut have more meaning to a person who has lost their father, or mother for that matter?

I feel that if you listen to the meaning of it its a very moving album anyway.

I don't think that old men ought to promote wars for young men to fight

I can't listen to TFC all-the-way-through in one go. I find it too disturbing. Although I could listen to Not Now John all day.

On Sunday my grandpa told me about an expierience of his in Vietnam. Today this line almost made me cry.

"A place to stay,
Enough to eat,
Somewhere old heros shuffle safely down the street,
Where you can speak out loud about your doubts and fears,
And whats more,
No one ever disappears,
You never here the standard issue kicking in your door,
You can relax,
On both sides of the tracks,
And maniacs don't blow holes in bandsmen by remote control,
And everyone has recourse to the law,
And no one kills the children anymore,
And no one kills the children anymore..."

It does seem to mean more to those who had family in a war.

I don't think that old men ought to promote wars for young men to fight
