I like the Live side of Ummagumma, there's a few on the studio side too.

And if I show you my dark side,Will you still hold me tonight? And if I open my heart to you And show you my weak side, What would you do?

I loved Ummagumma from the first listen. The live side is still my favorite live Pink Floyd release, official or otherwise, and I really dig the studio tracks. It's certainly a "marking time" album, but the decision to break themselves up and see what they came up with individually was a great exercise. Even if it didn't work, they all turned in interesting songs that expressed their personalities. I still rank "Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict" as my 10th favorite Pink Floyd song, and it's not just to provoke people. Although I must admit I enjoy it when it does.

If it ain't dirty, don't clean it.

I never understand why people call it the "live side". It's a whole disc of live material, not a side.

I think later this week I will exchange some acrued credit card points for an Amazon gift card and buy some used discs. Also go to one of our better thrift stores and see their selection of discs.

We had a bit of a vehicular accident during our areas first big snow of the season. Bent a fender and headlight. The van is now in the shop being repaired so the kids and I get to ride around in the new Malibu for the next few days.
It has an auxilliary audio jack for mp3 players that I am using for the first time.
The kids and I are counting to nineteen with Paul Hardcastle.

n-n-n-n-n-n-nineteen...interestingly enough I read somewhere that the song was actually full of historical inaccuracies, although to be honest I never bothered to listen enough to check that out

I think it's basically that there are no real and completely verified statistics to suggest that the average age of a soldier in the Vietnam War was 19 and that the average age in World War II was 26. There were so many that no such data exists.

I suppose I can admit to being a Facebook snob. There are plenty of old schoolmates on FB and I ignore many of them due to my prejudices. If their profile picture is one that had two people in it and they cropped out the other or it looks like they took the picture standing in their own bathroom... Those are gonna be strikes against them in my book. Use some resourcefulness when advertising yourself on FB.
And I don't care for too much gab and nonsense that would be associated with so many "friends" on FB. I have probably declined or ignored half the people who have sent requests.
Incase you have not noticed, I can often be a jackass.

On one PF boot I have that features the soundcheck before the Vienna '88 show, there's a clip of David and Co. playing the riff to Heartbreaker by Led Zeppelin. It's about a minute and a half of Pink Floyd doing Led Zeppelin. Now there's a cross. I wonder if Zep ever did some Floyd. It would be interesting to hear, none the less.

2010 may be a good year for Cheap Trick. They got some exposure with the younger kids in an episode of One Tree Hill (though it did not start rolling 'til middle way in) http://ch131.com/onetreehill715.htm (skip to somewhere around 19 minutes to see the band's scenes unfold)
Some of their current release is seeing some hopeful download traffic on places like iTunes. They of course will again engage in touring everywhere and every week to support The Latest as well as tour as opening act in a few places around the world. The will do some live performances on PBS for Soundstage and Austin City Limits. These guys just work all the time and may get some notice this year. ARE YOU LISTENING ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME!!
One of the best bands on the list of musicians not yet induced to The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
I got tickets to see them in my area in March and then in April I will see Jeff Beck as well. Damn I just spent about $180 to see some aging rock stars perform live. Don't think I have ever spent more than $40 on one concert ticket.
