iTunes Complaint Thread
The thread to voice your opinions on the downfalls of iTunes, and to flat out complain.

My complaints;

1. Album only is flat out BS. If you want us to purchase the whole album to get some songs, then why not make the whole album "Album only"?

2. Many of the release years for albums are inaccurate. i.e. Red Rose Speedway by Paul McCartney and Wings was listed as being released in 1987, while in reality, it was released in 1973.

3. Bonus tracks are not always indicated as being bonus tracks. i.e. Venus and Mars by Paul McCartney and Wings. My Carnival, and two other tracks were not originally on the album but iTunes did not indicate this.

4, and foremost, they deleted all the Paul McCartney and Wings music with NO INDICATION of why they did so. Angry

Some of those do seem odd but the record labels are to blame in some cases.
And if these sorts of issues anger you in the slightest then allow me to be the next person to suggest to you that you should back up your iTunes library religiously.

I don't really like how other music files have to be imported and pissed on by Apple and iTunes before imported to the library but those guys are just trying to make a buck like most of us now. Aren't they?

It's not that hard to go in and manually edit things that are wrong. That includes cover art, year of release, track titles, artist name.....stuff like that. It's annoying and I agree with you about that, but it's not that big of a deal. I've had to do it every now and again and you just do it and get it over with.

If they deleted all the Paul McCartney and Wings material, they probably did so for the same reason they will be changing all the Pink Floyd music to "album only". Because they were sued. Pink Floyd said they can't sell the songs as individual tracks, they can only sell the albums as a whole. So Paul McCartney or some member of his legal team probably got on the horn with Apple or someone from their legal team and said "hey, remove it." The Beatles music isn't even available for sale online anywhere, so it's no surprise that Paul doesn't want his solo stuff up there either.

Quit using iTunes and go to a record store. Problem solved.

Bingo!

And now the final solution can be applied.

RE: iTunes Complaint Thread
The "album only" thing was due to individual songs had to be priced at 79p (or whatever it was in the US), now they've changed their policy (to compete with Micro$oft's "Zune", apparently) so as tracks can be priced at 59p, 79p or 99p. Though some songs, particularly in the prog-rock genre, are quite lengthy and record companies/artists value them higher than 79p or 99p.

Basically it's not iTunes who price songs but the record labels, but iTunes do set a range of fixed prices, so it's not really their fault.

Well the weird thing with that is, "his" solo stuff is still there, it's just all of the Wings stuff that's gone.

Trust me, when I want a full album, I go and buy a CD or a record. But when I want just one or two songs off an album, I'm not going to shell out ten bucks for a whole album.

My main problem with it is that it's proprietary software. All else is secondary.
