Perhaps they are too closed-minded to realize that Pink Floyd is the greatest band ever? :;):

If anything, tell them to go and listen to Ron Geesin...

My school is totally dominated by generic rap fanatics who think that Eminem's Mockingbird is the greatest thing since perferated toilet paper. when I tell them that pink floyd offers a much greater soundscape of phylosophy and artistic value they say "Who is he?" and I say "HE...is a band that totally poops on American Idiot!" and then they get mad. But for what it's worth, I'm working hard to start a PF revolution in my school and have managed to convert about a half a dozen people over to the bright side. Not to many now, but give it time.
Yeah, I know how you feel. A lot of people at my school like a lot of crappy music. I'm currently burning a CD of my favorite music for agirl I know who's tastes are emo-punk oriented,a nd some Floyd will be on there. it would be awesome if I could convert her....

Misfit, don't try to convert anyone. Floyd is great but lets face it, they were originally from a different era. My daughter is hardcore punk and I am going to buy her the Wall CD. I think she will find alot of common ground there. She thinks all of Floyd is stoner music. I might even get her the Movie. I was so into the Wall back when it was released, I am kinda full of it, but I am thinking maybe its time for a revival.

To be honest, living here as I do in the north of England, and being 38, the vast majority of my peers at the very least recognise Floyd as masters of their art, and many are pretty much Floyd nuts.
But, Pink Floyd's music is timeless and those youths who don't yet get it will do eventually as time mellows them.

Perhaps you are too closed minded to accept that others have different tastes and many more who like them do not consider them the greatest band ever. ???

It's all a matter of perspective in the end anyway. They are my favourite band and I try to get others to at least give them a listen, but I will not think anything less of them if and when they do decide it is not their style.
