A few questions regarding "The Wall" on vinyl
I recently purchased a used copy of the wall on vinyl for $20.00 and there are two questions I have,
1. The lyrics printed on the sleves to hold the records includes the changed lyrics to mother that were in the film and exclude the lyrics from the mother do you think shes dangerous segment and just skip to hush now babe, also what shall we do now's lyrics are featured before young lust, along with a few other differances mainly in tie with the movie, however none of these changes appear on the album. Was this a misprint? Do I have some sort of rare copy (as if) Im just wondering why all these lyrical changes are here,
2. Its is slightly crackly sounding, on the quieter parts it is very noticeable (i.e. Nobody Home) but is not noticable at all at the louder parts. As i figure it is probably the fact that it is used (if so, could you maybe tell me how to fix/ or clean it to sound slightly better) or are most vinyl copies of this particular album just like that (unlikely but possible)
Id appreciate you're help, Thanks.

Thanks, I did kind off come off as sounding like a total vinyl newbie (well I guess I am) but I just thought it was so wierd because the thing looks near mint, I counted, one tiny scratch on side 1, two small scratches on side two, Side threes pristine, side four has one medium scratch (one inch) but sounds fine. Thats why it was wierd because of how good they look, so i guess ill try using a new clothe (I used a clothe on it, but ive used that same clothes on all my other records so it probably has some crap on it by now.)
But what about the lyrics? I don't know if you own a copy, but when I first saw the lyrics i was like "OMG DID I GET THE FABLED NEVER RELEASED MOVIE SOUNDTRACK?! (high pitched giggle) Im sure you can imagine my short burst of disappointment realising that "What Shall We Do Now?" wasn't on the album. So is this misprint on every album? Was it on purpose?

What Shall We Do Now was going to be on the finished album but was dropped due to time and sound quality resraints just before the album came out, but after the album cover was finalised so it was too late to remove the lyrics for WSWDN. As far as your crackling sound, make sure your stylus is free from dust, that can sometimes help.

RE: A few questions regarding "The Wall" on vinyl
I have another question, since we're talking about The Wall.
On my original vinyl sleeve the production credits are listed- Gilmour, Ezrin, Waters, but on the the sleeve of the the CD, in the Oh, By the Way box, the names are in alphabetical order. However, on the discs, the original order is kept.
Does anybody know why this change was made?

Vinyl's a funny thing. Sometimes you can hear scratches, sometimes you can't. Even a small scratch on a Floyd album can sound like someone's hammering a nail into your skull. But the same scratch on a Sabbath album would go unnoticed. Unless it was during one of their rare quiet songs.
Electrophile's suggestion of using a lint-free cloth is a good one, very popular in the vinyl age. They even used to print this tip on the plain inner sleeves sometimes. Unfortunately, now that vinyl's practically obsolete, it's very difficult to find lint-free cloths.
BTW, when The Wall was originally released, it came with a transparent window-sticker (non-sticky) thing inside the shrink-wrap, which said 'Pink Floyd The Wall' in Scarfeian font. Most people threw these away when they opened the album, but I kept mine inside the sleeve, and I'm glad I did. In many ways, it's one of the highlights of the album, IMO. They're very rare now, and can add significantly to the value of a used copy. Did you get one of these?

Yeah, that's what they SAY, but I think that's BS. How long is WSWDN, about 4 minutes? They could easily have fit that onto side 2 without significantly compromising the sound quality. Especially if they'd dropped some of the pointless non-musical passages. I'm thinking here specifically of the 'Wanna take a baaaath?' into to OOMT - and the whole of DLMN, come to think of it.

Everyone is a vinyl newbie until they get more into it and if you're serious about collecting, you will gain a shite-load of knowledge about it.
And of course I own a copy, although I don't pay attention to the lyrics as there's only 6 songs I'm interested in and I know the words to them already.

I did not get a copy with the sticker, though to be honest, i did know about the sticker, i probably would have peeled it off since i like the blank cover better (plus i would have been unaware of its value)
And i REAAAALY wish they put WSWDN on the album, all they would have to do is remove empty spaces (duh) half of DLMN and maybe cut a little off that intro music. Because to be honest who totally listens to DLMN without being tempted the skip to the end where the song gets good. I have WSWDN on my PSP and i custom fit it to play instead of empty spaces.

That's a little harsh, 'Leccy. Which six songs would they be, then?
I would guess:
In The Flesh
Mother
Young Lust
ABITW part 3
Hey You
Comfortably Numb
Waiting For the Worms. (For the 'weak people', LOL)
Shit, that's seven....

Nope, not even close.
The Thin Ice
Hey You
Goodbye Blue Sky
Young Lust
Run Like Hell
Comfortably Numb
I can't stand The Wall, aside from those songs. Roger's self-masturbatory wanking about his father and ego issues make it nearly unlistenable to me and I absolutely loathe and detest The Final Cut. I'd rather listen to Atom Heart Mother.
So no, it's not harsh. It's my opinion.
