The Dark Side of The Moon - Your thoughts
Hello, my name is Robert. I'm a student in Year 11 and I'm doing a course called 'Creative and Media Diploma'. Within my course, I have have to do a unit called 'The Higher Project'which is why I am here. I am required to conduct primary reserch into a particular interest of mine. My chosen project is Pink Floyd's 'Dark Side of The Moon'. I need some questions answered as part of this research for the Higher Project to pass my diploma. It would be nice if you could help me out . The questions I need answering are:
1) Why do you like this album?
2) What effect does the album have on you as a listener?
3) What made you want to get the album and why?

RE: The Dark Side of The Moon - Your thoughts
I can only answer one question here...
1) One of the main reasons I like this specific album is because Rick Wright uses a synthesizer and makes amazing instrumentals with it such as On The Run and Anything You Like. They did a very good job on what concerns synchronizing the electric guitar; the amplifier and the synthesizer.

RE: The Dark Side of The Moon - Your thoughts
The thing I love most about it is the sound, which is completely Richard Wright's piece of art. As much as The Wall would have been nothing without Roger, DSotM would have been nothing without Richard. His soundscapes are simply amazing, and the only album on which he's been able to recreate this is The Division Bell. (I don't like that album though, because it completely lacks compositions, except for a few exceptionally brilliant songs.)
Secondly, the lyrics. I think this was probably Roger's best piece of non-opera work. I think that (probably) everybody can relate to at least one of the songs on this album, except for people have never been confronted with problems in their lives... Which isn't likely. :P
Thirdly, the compositions. This is probably Pink Floyd's best album when it comes to compositions. I'd name a few of my favourites, but I'd probably end up having to name them all.

1.) Because everyone in the band just sounds amazing, because david gilmour is an AMAZING singer/guitarist, because it makes me feel a little better no matter what and i can just space out for awhile (as well as all floyd albums except "the final cut") and the lyrics are really awesome and i can identify with them...especially "time".
2.) it makes me feel kind of happy and numb...in a good way
3.) actually my dad gave it to me and was like "this is weird and cool, you might like it. listen to it and tell me what you think" and the rest was history...now two years later that are my fav! :D

RE: The Dark Side of The Moon - Your thoughts
1. Because it speaks to me. The lyrics really hit close to home and I believe anybody can relate to it. Also, the only way to describe the music on this album is beautiful. You can use plenty of other adjectives to describe other Floyd albums, but this one is just simply beautiful. The sound effects, the composition, the saxophones, the guitar solos, the keyboard playing. Everything about it is just perfect.
2. I always feel at peace when I listen to it and the lyrics always make me ponder, no matter how many times I've heard them. The very last line always haunts me: "Everything under the sun is in tune, but the sun is eclipsed by the moon." Probably the greatest end lyrics ever written.
3. My dad got me into it. I remember him saying, "Hunter, you know how rappers always use sound effects and stuff in their music and pride themselves on their originality? Well these guys were the original ones to do it." He started playing Money and the rest is history.
You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to, so that when they turn their backs on you, you'll get the chance to put the knife in.

The Dark side of the Moon is one of the best album of Pink Floyd. Which was released in 1973. I like this album because of This album gave us the true meaning of rock and roll. When I listen this album I feel I am just a rocking person and I have capability to rock out like Pink Floyd.
