Question Most rare albums (on outdated formats)
Ok I want to know what people think is the hardest album to find on an outdated format (vinyl,8track etc) not the most expensive but hardest to find a copy of. Since I know almost nothing about other formats I can only say what I think is the rarest on vinyl. More is IMO the most rare since, well, not many people have it on vinyl at all, i mean its relatively cheap but there arent many copies being sold. I have been to several record stores and only one has ever had a copy and of corse i bought it. TDB is a close second but I think that people just charge up the ass for that because not many people are selling their copy. I have a feeling that there are many copies of TDB on vinyl but not many peoples are selling.

Probably The Division Bell on vinyl. Not many copies were pressed, as CDs were the dominant medium by then, not vinyl. I was able to snag a copy, but it cost me $60, including the shipping. Which is the most I've ever spent for a vinyl record, Pink Floyd or otherwise. It was still in the shrink wrap though, with only the side stripped off so you could get the sleeve in and out -- to this day I haven't removed the rest of the shrink or even opened up the gatefold.

More has been very hard for me to find, and it's one of the few albums of theirs (studio+soundtrack) that I don't have. Any copies I've seen floating around Ebay are either extremely expensive or in really piss-poor shape.

I have a copy of Piper in MONO which I actually found in a used record store in the 80's, pure luck! I also have a copy which has a big "Now in Stereo" sticker, lol. aAso not a studio release but Masters of Rock is prolly pretty hard to find although to be honest I haven't actually looked in years.

I got mine (still in shrink wrap) for just $25 yesterday, brand new. Pretty damn good deal if you ask me.

Oh and a most rare IMO on 8track would probably be Atom Heart Mother, ive never even seen a copy of this on 8 track but ive heard it exists.

Well here's 2 of mine for you then.
AHM is rare, but not exceptionally rare on 8 track, except the green Q8 below (not mine).

rarest of the AHM may be This Japanese Odeon Reel (not mine) that sold for $1725.00 a few years ago on Ebay.

"Rare" is tough to outline, with so many countries, so many different years of reissue. Rare in one country may be less so in another. U.S. Issues of pre darkside albums on Tower are somewhat rare because The Floyd weren't big yet there.

There are several countries where the division bell was released including the US (which had light blue see-through vinyl), Brazil (which had solid darkblue vinyl) and russia and korea which had a double LP (both black vinyl) and the U.K! Thats all that ive ever heard so far. So the other day I had seen the division bell in this local store and I looked at it and to my surprise it was Near mint (literally almost completely clean and clear) and it had the lyric insert. Next I opened it up to see the record and the vinyl was blue! dark solid blue! I didn't know at the time but thats what it was said to have been when sold in brazil. Next I discovered that it was really from the U.K. (says on the cover). Its an import! The best part about this was it was only 30$!!!!! No shipping or anything. So the moral of the store is:
#1 DO RESEARCH! Most important! you can discover rare and valuable records being sold as bargain bin throw aways!
#2 BE PATIENT! There will always be another copy somewhere on Ebay or craigslist (its rarely different).
Thats my advice. Helps especially if your a collector

I know that. I was talking about vinyl copies in the United States, of which there weren't many. I know that it was pressed in other countries, because when I was initially searching for it on Ebay, I'd run across more than a few copies from the UK or Brazil or wherever, but I wanted a US pressing.

Well IVe seen the majority of the divion bell's in the US pressing including online and in stores (probably because I live in canada). If you look in store be prepared to pay a high price and online... well always be prepared to pay for it. I got lucky.
