Hi,

Does anybody know if it is true that - according to a Roger Waters interview I read a while ago, forgot where from - that 'Syd's Theme' in "Shine On" is based on the theme tune to an old BBC radio series, "Take It From Here"?

Does anybody know any more about that, or have any further info? Would love to hear more about it.

I'm not sure about this -- I did some research, and that radio show ended in 1959, when David was 13 years old. I don't know if it's plausible that he was an avid enough follower of the show, that he'd remember the theme and then "accidentally" play it, and have it become the centerpiece of a song he was working on in a band 15 years later. That doesn't pass my sniff test.

Yes, I know what you mean, but there is a slim chance.

I remember when I was growing up in school in the UK, we would always copy & sing Monty Python sketches & songs etc (who doesn't?) but these were from programmes that would have originally been on TV about 10 or 12 years before then, but still felt like they had a relevance to me then.

i guess maybe it depends who you hang around with... !

In fact, I still am a massive fan & love watching their stuff... but I'm getting off the subject here (which may have hit a dead end!!!!).
