RE: Pink Floyd on the radio
I heard Another Brick In The Wall pt2 on TV. They were playing it on Accepted's trailer. Lame.

Thats good. Well its not a bad thing here because Canada has definitely had amazing musicians but once again with the problem of replaying popular songs.

I'm quite sure America doesn't need such rules, because they have a really large supply of local music, and Americans are generally a bit less involved with foreign music than other people are. I mean, how hard is it for, say, a Belgian artist, to get on the Billboard charts in America? Here, in Belgium, I'm quite sure they have a similar "rule" as what blue_ember was talking about.

Whenever I make a post, add the modulus of e to the power of the product of i and pi to my counter.

Agreed. I honestly think most of the talent is in Britain.

yea. Even if they did have the rule it wouldn't be hard at all to deal with it. I don't think its a problem in Canada, I think the problem is when they play a few selections often repeated from any artists.
I think its a shame that American radios don't play (good) foreign music because there is a lot of very good underrated music out there.

RE: Pink Floyd on the radio
The reason not a lot of foreign (read: non-English speaking) artists get airplay in the US is because in Europe, the majority of the populace is multi-lingual. You could hear a German artist on Belgian radio, because there's a better than average chance it would be understood by the people listening. Outside of novelty songs like The Macarena, 99 Luftballons, Der Kommissar, Rock Me Amadeus, and probably a couple others I'm forgetting, songs not sung in English don't do well. Why? If you can't understand what the singer is singing, you're not going to buy it/listen to it. It has nothing to do with whether the person is talented, or whether the music is good. You're not going to get people in redneck country to buy music that's not in English. You can argue whether that's a passive form of xenophobia or not, but that's sadly how it works here.
Now, Spanish-speaking artists are different; they have their own radio stations, Billboard charts, and built-in audience. You wouldn't hear them on mainstream Top 40 radio unless they're crossover artists like Shakira.
