Stanley Kubrick
Found this when I was studying for my project.

Quote:Stanley Kubrick wanted to use this track for his film A Clockwork Orange; however, the band refused permission. Kubrick did, however, include the album cover in the film. It can be seen on a shelf in the music shop scene. Years later, Kubrick refused Roger Waters permission to use audio samples from his film 2001: A Space Odyssey on Waters' solo album Amused to Death.
D1ck move.

Dick move? In what way? Also, who did the "dick move"; Kubrick or the band? I didn't know that Stanley Kubrick was required to do something he didn't want to do.

Definitely Kubrick. They did not give him the permission to use Atom Heart Mother. He used it, so that's one. When Roger asked him if he could use some of his movie's sound effects, you would think he would accept looking at how he used their song even though they refused, but he didn't. I respect the guy, though.

The band didn't give him permission to use the music from Atom Heart Mother, and he didn't. He put the physical album on a shelf in a scene that no one remembers unless they watch the whole thing. They didn't tell him he couldn't do that. The music and the album cover aren't the same things. Same goes for Kubrick denying Roger the right to use parts of 2001 on his solo album. That's Kubrick's movie. He has the right to determine who uses it and for what reason.

If anyone is interested, please check out http://iahuasca.blogspot.com to learn how to sync 2001:A Space Odyssey, The Shining, and The Wall. This isn't a typical sync, and will completely alter the way you think of both Kubrick and Waters. Thanks.

The opening sequence of A Clockwork Orange was definitely made for Atom Heart Mother Suite, it fits perfectly. Also, you must know what you're looking for in that record shop scene to find Atom Heart Mother as it is somewhat well hidden. I saw a Jim Morrison album, Sergeant Pepper and the soundtrack of 2001, which is in plain sight. My friend also saw a Hendrix album with the Gypsies, but I don't that period of Hendrix to know what album he's talking about.

So you thought you'd might like to go to the show ?
