Gilmour Live Meltdown Question.
Hey there, I've searched this site and many others looking for an answer to the following question -

Youtube has a whole slew of videos of Gilmour Live at the Royal Albert Hall.. referring to them as Meltdown 2001. I've seen two different versions of the same group doing CN and others so it seems like a tour or perhaps a 2 night show but which features Bob Geldof and which features Robert Wyatt singing it with him? Also the videos are professional recording so are they both for purchase and if so where?

Thanks for any clarification Biggrin

They are all on the same DVD - there are a couple of songs under the Special Features section including the other version of CN. You can purchase the DVD from Amazon.

The one show in london was to help Robert Wyatt get back into music after his accident.
David enjoyed it so much he decided to do another 2 dates and go to paris and do a few nights over there.

You've got the Meltdown concert confused with the benefit shows Pink Floyd did for Robert Wyatt in 1972. After Robert Wyatt had his accident and needed help paying his medical bills, Pink Floyd put on a charity concert that raised quite a bit of cash. You can find boots of the show online.

The Meltdown concert was a festival that Robert Wyatt was putting on, and he asked David if he'd perform, and he did. It was the first time he'd been on stage in years at that point, and by his own admission, Polly had to push him on stage.

Awesome concert........I may watch this more than any other DVD. I love the song selection and how he arranged them. He has a knack of personalizing songs in such a way that makes your jaw drop. Also, Rick's "Breakthrough" is great!
