I know exactly what you mean. And I think that's why I love songwriters like Roger Waters and Pete Townshend so much - they have a gift of being able to express those universal, yet so difficult to express, feelings in their songs. The Final Cut is just one of many examples of Waters' brilliance in that respect, and as for Townshend, Behind Blue Eyes really hits hard for me. Plus there's the whole Quadrophenia album, and I really identify with a lot of the stuff on The Who By Numbers...but this is a Pink Floyd board, and I'm getting off topic. But yes, I definitely understand where you're coming from, and it's good to know I'm not alone. :) peace.
"In the finished article, the only thing that is important is whether it moves you or not. There's nothing else that's as important at all." - Roger Waters, on music

I love Roger's songs. People give him crap for some of his work. They call him like the "darkest person in Rock and Roll," that's a load of crap in my opinion. I think he's a brilliant philosopher, a voice for the people, like me, who seem to be mute.
And I am so glad I'm not alone. I mean when no one can relate to you, you find yourself thinking "F*@# I really am losing it, my mind is finally going..."

I gave you credit for the idea. I wanted to have a discussion on The Final Cut, especially seeing some of the posts of Survivor, and I thought this would be an interesting way to have it...jez ???

This list was very hard to make because I like almost all of the songs on TFC (which is why there are many ties). But I just can't stand Paranoid Eyes. I don't know why but I can't.

Paranoid Eyes I think you just have to like the content and agree with what's being said to really like it. Some people don't agree with it, it is very anti-military establishment I think, and that is one of the reasons they don't want to hear it. That's how a lot of The Final Cut is, which again, why so many express dicontentment with it.
