Ummagumma-who played on the solo sides?
Was listening to Ummagumma for the first time in years. Does anybody know who played on the solo sides? For example, is that Nick on Sysphus? Is he on The Narrow Way also? Sounds like him, but I am not sure. Great album in any case!

Each band member had their own solo compositions. Rick's was Sysyphus, Nick's was The Grand Vizier's Garden Party, David's was The Narrow Way, and Roger's was Grantchester Meadows and Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict.

Each band member played all the instruments for their respective solo composition, with the exception of Grantchester Meadows, which featured Rick on keyboards and David on guitar and chorus vocals.

That's true when played live.
On the album it only features Roger. There is no keyboard as far as I remember and the guitar playing is definately not David's.

Grand Vizier features Nick's wife Lindy on flute.

No, Nick's wife was the flautist, not Rick's.

I'm still convinced that these aren't as "solo" as they say. Floyd have a history of cheating and not quite telling the truth about what happens behind the scenes.

So Rick played timpani on Sysphus? Hard to believe. Nothing at all against Rick; he is great and maybe he is more of a percussionist than was known, but the timpani playing on that track is magnificent. I can't help but guess it is Nick or a studio musician who never got credit. But if it is Rick, that is even more impressive.
