Welcome to the Machine live
What do you think about Welcome To The Machine played live? Should it be played live or is it one of those tracks best left only on record as there is so much to it?

Also, if done live, should it have had drums or not. To me, drums just do not fit in this song.

It should have been played live, because it was part of an overall concept. To perform WYWH and omit it would just seem strange. I think it sounded better on the MLoR tour though, because David's vocals were stronger. Seems odd I know, but to my ears, he had less trouble hitting the notes in 1987 than he did in 1977.

I agree it should have been played live. But only without drums. Smile

I like the AMLOR tour version alot, Tim Renwick's added guitar solo is a nice addition. There's a pretty good soundboard recording on a boot called "He Couldn't Make It Tonight" (the title being due to a fan shouting "where's Syd Barrett?!", the title being Dave's response.)
