Favorite progressive rock bands?
Alright, I assume all of us here love progressive rock. Personally it's my favorite genre. So what are all yours favs?

Here's mine

1. Pink Floyd
2. Camel
3. King Crimson
4. Be Bop Deluxe
5. Van der Graaf Generator
6. Renaissance
7. Jethro Tull

Some people label guns N' Roses prog rock so stick them in there too.
In no specific order, Magma, Gong, Soft Machine, King Crimson, Ash Ra Tempel, Tangerine Dream, Faust, Amon Duull II and Ozric Tentacles.
...our minds shot together.
Other than PF, I listen to Tool, Porcupine Tree, Pain of Salvation, Ozric Tentacles, Riverside and Phideaux, to name just a few.
But of course also the prog pioneers, King Crimson, Genesis, Tull, Moody Blues and Yes.
In the early seventies I did listen a lot to Caravan and Van Der Graaf, but not any more. I don't think they've stood the test of time very well. That goes for Gentle Giant as well.
I've got a couple of Yes and Genesis albums. I don't like Gabriel's voice on Selling England By The Pound.

I've found out that Crippled Black Phoenix is a brilliant progressive-ish band. Most people label them "Post rock" but they allegedly hate that name.

Why some people call them "Post-Pink Floyd": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jI6OupafUgY

Whenever I make a post, add the modulus of e to the power of the product of i and pi to my counter.
Thanks Arno, I really liked that. Thumbsup

Have you heard Riverside? Vey PF influenced and pretty good. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQ2CtdEV5...re=related
I still like Bebop Deluxe, Gentle Giant, Tull, ELP and Tangerine Dream.
Don't tell me there's no hope at all,
Together we stand, divided we fall.
There was a prog rock band I heard many years ago that I liked, Pink... something or other...

There's Pink Freud, Pink Lloyd and if you're actually serious there's a worldwide known album called Pink Flag by a post-punk band called Wire.

Moody Blues, Supertramp, Rush, ELP, Yes

I don't know............so many good ones!

You can pigeon hole so many bands under the banner of "progressive". I think the Beatles we're probably the first band to really incorporate so many different elements in their music.....same with the Kinks.
