Off-the-Wall Places You've Heard The Floyd
We've all been out, maybe at the mall, or maybe we were watching TV, and all of a sudden we hear it. A Pink Floyd song. We think to ourselves, "What the hell is the Floyd doing here?!" This thread is for those places. My contribution is The Weather Channel who, during their Local on the 8s, has played them several times. Terminal Frost and Sorrow are the most used choices, but then they whipped this one out. Sweet!

I've had more than a few of these instances over the years. One that really stands out probably happened over 10 years ago when I was at the Milwaukee County Zoo. I walked into the Primate center and was greeted with "One Slip" being piped throgh the speakers. I recall turning to my then wife saying something like "well, now I have no doubt we evolved from apes, as we have the same taste in music".....lol

Another comes to mind as I just heard "On the Turning Away" on Pandora. This is the very song I heard as I was walking down my son's school corridor many years ago. The janitor was cranking it as he swept the floors!

How about Ted ? The movie that is. I was more than surprised and absolutely thrilled when he made a Pink Floyd reference ("How can you have any pudding if you don't eat your meat ?") I was laughing like a livestock and had a huge fangasm at that moment, which made everyone in the theater, including my friends, to look at me real awkward like...totally worth it though

So you thought you'd might like to go to the show ?

I was listening to the Ambient channel on Digitally Imported, and a really long mix by Mike G used the opening synthesizer line (the line played under David's guitar) from SOYCD pts. I-V as the basis for that whole section. I had it on, but left the room for a minute, and when I came back, I was like, "Is that Shine On?" Turns out, it was part of it. I thought that was really neat, and extremely creative.

A long time ago I heard San Tropez in a grocery store. Tripped me out. Side note, doesn't it make you feel old when you like or have on your iPod grocery store music.

I shit you not, I was at the bank and someone had their little AM/FM radio on to the local classic rock station, and Money was playing. IN A BANK. I started laughing and when the teller asked me what was funny, I said "Listen to the song, now think about where we are." Pretty soon the whole damn room was laughing.
