Dude just because a band has a great song that everybody likes doesnt theyre goddamn sellouts thats like friggin saying they made a song like that to get cash its not there fault its a good song.

To me, "Money", lyrically, is a strange one; the least recognisable as a Waters song.
Here`s a quote he gave in an interview on the 25th Anniversary of DSOTM:

"It doesn`t sound to me like a song that just started to pour out of me, it doesn`t feel close enough to the centre of my being..."

So Waters, not recognising his own artistic fingerprints on it, suggests something not organically created but something he forced himself to write, because a song about money (and how people are warped in the pursuit of it) was required for the album.

I don`t think there is anything intentionally commercial about it, as some may think - it`s just the most radio-friendly thing on the album.

I could care less about a song's popularity. I like Money by Pink Floyd, I like Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana, I like All Along The Watchtower by Jimi Hendrix. One of my favourite Beatles songs is "All You Need Is Love", and it's a fairly popular song. The fact that it's popular doesn't make it any better or worse, the song itself is always the same.

I'm getting sick of fans of certain bands not liking the songs just because they're getting very popular. That's like me saying I hate "American Idiot" by Green Day or "Vertigo" by U2 just because they've been played a lot. There are a lot of people out there who have only heard one song by a certain artist because it's so commercialized, and that may lead into a larger fandom for them, so I don't see what the problem is. Good music is going to get popular, what's wrong with that?

So just because a lot of radio stations play it, that means that real Floyd fans aren't supposed to like it?

I think real Floyd fans have enough brains to think for themselves on what they do and do not like, and if they think it's played too much, they can turn off their radios and listen to something else.

Money rocks, there is no other way of putting it. It's one of my favorite Pink Floyd Songs of all time.

I can't believe anyone could say Money is a bad song! Along with Time, it is one of the key components that gives DSOTM its general theme. If Money wasn't on the album there'd be a huge chunk missing. And as far as i'm concerned they've done a fantastic job, Dark Side is arguably one of the best albums of all time.

Money is good song and it has strong lyrics, but I'm not overfond of it. I agree that people don't have to hate one song if it is liked by others, but, as for me, Money is not the best Floydian song. There are much better compositions. I have this attitude to songs "Learning to fly", "ABITW II".
