Animals - is pretty overrated

Dont get me wrong here Animals rules but I think the general structure is pretty odd. 3 10 minute + songs and 2 one minute intro and outros. It would have been better if it had at least 1 more song on it

pink floyd wrote that style because they wanted to, not for any radio playing or something. i like the structure fine, because the concept is of the Dogs, Pigs and Sheep, all of which are addressed. what else would they put on the album? it was those three animals.
I think he re-gifted and then he de-gifted and now he's using an upstairs invite as a springboard to a Super Bowl sex romp!

I personally don't feel that Animals is overrated at all. I really enjoy each and every one of the songs on the album and Animals happens to be one of my 5 "Stranded on an island" discs. It's my favorite Floyd album and it's so unique in its own right. At that time, in 1977, there was a whole new generation of music. Punk Rock was coming onto the scene with bands like The New York Dolls, The Ramones, The Clash, and The Sex Pistols and Animals sounded nothing like these bands. It's pretty interesting alone that it sounded so different at this time period than any other record.

I don't think it's overrated at all. It's perfect. It addresses the themes, what else could they add? It's perfect as is, and is by far my favourite Floyd album? If anything, it's UNDERRATED

If you'd look beyond the mainstream, you'd see that not all albums contain fourteen three-minute pop songs. Some albums are comprised of interesting, well-thought-out concepts and may just contain a few songs that are well over four minutes long. Hell, the lyrics might not even have the words "Oooh baby" after every line.
