Anyone wanting to stir up some controversy amongst Floyd fans only needs to bring up anything about the last two studio albums bearing the band's name, branded or otherwise. Waters, for his part over the years, as suggested by his interviews, seems to be somewhat less critical of MLOR. He even at one point went so far to say that he thought it had a couple of nice melodies that he would have worked with, had he still been in the band. 'Division Bell' seems totally lost on him, having nothing but disparaging remarks to say about it, while most fans and the other three Floyd's all agree it's better in every way.
So lets see how the two records do in PFO.....

Roger does go out of his way to beat up on David's "new wife". Makes sense in that she was his lyrical surrogate (for Roger) that David was so proud of. In 12 years & in my ears, The Division Bell has held up very well "indeed"! The MLOR sequence songs still remind me of David's desperation to get product out and prove Roger wrong - exacerbated by his lack of success in getting people to show up at his "About Face" tour stops in '84 (that tour & band rocked!!).
Great moments on both records, but Division Bell winds up in my media player 10 times more than MLOR.
Just my 2 cents...

I seem to be in the minority (As in, the only one on PFO) but I enjoy listening to AMLOR more than TDB.

Put your vote up then.....and I think there's a few more in here than you who favor that album.
As to Gilmour's '84 tour...yes....it did absolutely rock, and his handpicked band was perfect! Dave was, I think, a victim of bad timing, ultimately. 1984 was a sorry time indeed for good music.....and it only got worse as the decade progressed.

While i do not really dislike any of those albums both are in my eyes in the bottom of the bulk. And well, i do enjoy AMLOR more than TDB.

I don't enjoy either so I pressed null vote. It's weird, I like David Gilmour and About Face more than TDB and AMLOR... :Oo:

none of the above?
I voted for AMLOR
Snake, history will never know what she did. No one will ever learn the truth. Her story... her debriefing... will endure only in your heart. Everything she did, she did for her country. She sacrificed her life and her honor for her native land. She was a real hero. She was a true patriot. ~ EVA re: The Boss (MGS3)

Nah..."none of the above" doesn't need to be an option here. Everyone on this forum has heard both of these albums.....like them or not, and there's one that's better (TO YOU) than the other.
Personally, I like both albums. One significantly more than the other, but both are just fine, IMO. I enjoy all of Floyd's music(except AHM), and I find a lot to like in these two albums also..... especially the instrumental tracks.

There Shouldn't even be competition. Division Bell Wins by Lightyears. It's not that I don't like AMLOR, I just think Division bell is a better album. neither are definately not as good as when Roger was still in the band
