High Hopes Video - Looking for "Explanation"

Hey there!

I am looking for an "explanation" of the High Hopes video - what do all the symbols like the balloons, the statue, the big wheel, the huge people with suitecases, etc. mean? A friend of mine told me that the song is related to Gilmour's childhood and that's why everything appears so big - it's seen from the POV of a child. What else can you tell me?

I always thought it had something to do with the state of the band at that point in time.

i.e. Gilmour and the rest had 'High Hopes' for the band, but they were brought crashing down, what with Syd's (hence the statue) and Roger's departures, which hit the band hard.

I don't know what the symbols are to the video, sorry for not being able to help with that part.

btw, it's the greatest song on TDB by far rocker
