Hey, don't despise us. We've got our reasons.
It's got a lot of great songs, but, IMHO, it's also got a lot of so-so songs that seem to exist mostly to advance the plot.
It's also overproduced (as all of the albums with Ezrin are).
Finally, it sounds like it was made with an army of backing musicians, which it was--it really lacks PF's instrumental identity (this is also a problem with TFC and AMLOR).
I'm not saying it's not a good album, but if you talk to your average classic rock fan, they're like "Oh yeah, FLOYD! THE WALL, man! 'We don't need no education!'" From listening to people like that, you'd think it was practically the only album they had ever released.
BTW, to give you an idea where my biases lie: I'm very pleased to see that Meddle, Wish You Were Here, and Piper are doing so poorly in this poll!
