The thing about it being everywhere hardly makes it overrated. Dark Side of the Moon the album and Dark Side of the Moon the image are two different things. When people wear that pyramid or hang up the poster in their room, it has nothing to do with the album. It's come to symbolize something completely different. So if it's everywhere, it's because the imagery related to the album has taken on a life of its own over the years.

As for they lyrics and music, well that's all opinion I guess. I think the accolades Dark Side gets are completely justified. Anything that touches as many people as this album has deserves the praise it gets. And when something is great, should we not praise it? Your opinion is that it's a B album, but your opinion is obviously tainted by how much the attention it gets bothers you. Musicians, critics and fans alike have long agreed that it is Pink Floyd at their strongest. That something just came together perfectly to create this album. The fact that it's appreciated in it's own time is great. There are so many artists that don't get recognized until after the fact that I would never begrudge anyone for being able to enjoy this kind of recongnition while they're still around to enjoy it. Why that should bother someone or make them feel the album is overrated is beyond me.
I didn't click on this thread for the longest time because I knew Dark Side would be attacked. That seems to be the trend amongst Floyd fans lately and it gets kind of old after a while. I'll just never understand it. But again, if that's a persons opinion, then I have to respect it I guess. Eventually the pendulum will swing the other way again. Kind of like with another band and their much maligned album. Just look at this months Mojo.
