I was watching this movie a few weeks ago called the departed starring Leonardo Dicaprio and Matt Damien. And during a sex scene a bad cover of Comfortably Numb is playing. Does anyone know who this is? The first thought that came to my mind was The Wall Live in Berlin but I could be wrong.

It IS from The Wall in Berlin, and the singer is Van Morrison. It isn't the best cover in the world, but at least it's better than *shudder* the Scissor Sisters.

I heard this on the previews to the movie. I wonder why they used that version? Usually they do a cover especially for the movie - like they did for The Faculty.

Not to be nocuous, but The Sopranos made the same mistake. I agree with the OP that it's a "bad cover" solely over the vocals. It's too ...twangy. Both scenes would have been far more impactive with the original, immaculate track.
