I had Great Dance Songs when I was a teen and it helped me discover Floyd's various studio works from the 70s. Nice compilation, not too long. Although I hate the fact that "Sheep" is chosen so much to represent the Animals album. Good song, and probably the most accessible melody, but c'mon, Pigs (Three Different Ones) and Dogs own that album.

Yeah well this compilation album was the last one i picked up before Division Bell came out. Although I loved it then, listening to a re-recording of Money and edits on Shine On and ABITW II, now I see how it was such a great title and cover (definitely british humour, which is great..reminds me of Monty Python!)

I can see why Waters was against it. It was just a "sell-out" so to speak. I know I've taken the album personally and added hero's return (parts 1 & 2) and pigs on the wing (8 track version) as tracks 7 and 8 respectively. And it does add so much more to the album as a whole. Shame we couldn't see Bitter Love in there between Money.

For a new curious fan, I would recommend it.

I was going to get it, but then I realized I already had these songs, and really wasn't interested in a re-recording of Money.

Cash-ins are kinda cheap, if you ask me.

For a new curious fan I recommend listening to the actual ALBUMS by pink floyd and not crappy compilation albums...even if they are packed with awesome british humor.
