Hey guys, i have decided that the solo in Hey You is gonna be the first gilmour solo im gonna try to work out... however i would like some clarification on what some of the tabs mean... so if any guitar veterans wanna help me out, i'd appreciate it...

0--2-2>(3)-2vvvvvv----

okay so on this line of tab... im assuming that you SLIDE from 2 to 3 and then you go back to 2 and BEND the note right??? correct me if im wrong...

-3>(5)=======(5)vvvvvvvvvvvvv(5)=====>3--3>(5)==

so now on this line of tab im assuming you SLIDE from 3 to 5. However, what do the lines of equal signs mean (=======)?
also... what is the difference between this: 5^^^^^^ and this: (5)^^^^^^^^ does the second note mean that i hit the 5 ONCE, then hit it AGAIN and this time bend the note???

finally... what does this mean: 3/7vvvvvvvvvv-- is the slash a representitive of a hammer-on or something. Im really not sure...

thanks to whoever helps... cya
Peter

P.S - i know im ignorrant
:p

I might need a little backup from the guitar moderators on this one. I think most of it will be right, so here goes.

0--2-2>(3)-2vvvvvv---- the 2>(3) means bend at 2 up to sound like 3. 2vvvvvv means to do a vibrato, for that you just put your finger on the string and move it up and down fairly quickly depending on how fast Dave does it. There is no sliding as far as that tab goes.

3>(5)=======(5)vvvvvvvvvvvvv(5)=====>3--3>(5)==
Again you do not slide from 3 to 5, you bend 3 up to sound like 5. The ====== means to hold the bend out longer. In this case you will bend 3 up, hold it, and then do a vibrato (just moving the string up and down quickly is all a vibrato is.)

5^^^^^^ and this (5)^^^^^^^^
I don't know what ^^^^ means. I sure it's not a bend though.

3/7vvvvvvvvvv
All this means is to hit 3 and slide to 7 and do a vibrato. The sign for sliding up is / and sliding down is \. Sliding can also be expressed by just the letter s.

That should be about right, try playing it where it starts and see how it sounds. If anybody needs to correct me go right ahead.

hey thanks man... i appreciate the assistance....

on the part when i asked about the difference between the 5^^^^^^ and the (5)^^^^^^^^.... just pretned those arrows are pointing down.... i just couldnt find an arrow on my keyboard that pointed down... lol.... so just assume the ^^^^^^^ mean a vibrato...

thanks for your help, it turns out my assumptions were incorrect... I'm always confused by unexplained figures on tab sheets.
