I want to replace the plastic bridge pins on my acoustic with something nicer. Planet Waves do a boxwood set and an ebony set. I have also seen VERY eexpensive MAMMOTH TUSK sets (!) . Well, which would be best ?(i won't be buying the mammoth ones) Also, i was looking at the TUSQ ones.. Er, here are links...

Provide pic of your guitar so people can judge which pins might look best on your individual instrument. When you change bridge pins that's a fine excuse to put a shiny new set of really fancy strings on too, so as to achieve perfect sound.

well, i have some Planet Waves Boxwood ones now. (natural wood) They look nice, but the grooves are not big enough, and the pins are too thick. i am currently sanding them down, and whittleing the grooves. So far, one fits in place!
here is a link to the guitar:

I feel like getting the Planet Waves boxwood bridge pins wowser has when I next restring in about a month. They look so much more in tune (pun) with a beautiful wooden instrument such as my Simon & Patrick guitar or wowser's Baby Tanglewood guitar than white plastic bridge pins.

Hopefully none. None of the other reviewers on stringsdirect.co.uk mentioned the need to do anything to make them fit. It's likely your baby sized guitar body has baby-sized pin holes, and a standard dreadnought like mine will match the pins just like that. Hope so anyway. Else I'll get out the sandpaper.

Make sure yours does not have Martin-style pin holes - they are considerrably bigger than normal ones. Think i may get a new set of strings, soon.

These wooden bridge pins are amazing. Fitted each string/hole perfectly 1st time (on my brilliant Simon & Patrick guitar which is pretty much of standard dreadnought proportions). Make the guitar bridge area look a lot more beautiful, and don't do the nice woody tones of the instrument any harm. Each one is as strong as an ox (unlike plastic pins). Can't recommend highly enough. Will just go post a review to this effect on stringsdirect.co.uk now.
