the big muff has a very distinctive sound, and it only really does that sound, so try it out and make sure you like that sound before you go out an buy one, and the sovtek and nyc models sound completely different, neither one is better, they are just two different beasts.

good point. I had a Vintage Rat that had a great, characterful overdrive. Nothing too heavy

Could anyone give a opinion about Danelectro pedals? Haven't really tried them, but I've wanted to.

Does anyone know which Big Muff is better for the Pink Floyd sound? The pi, the ones that are green, or another type? There are so many different types, and I don't know which one to get.

If you want that special flanger effect that made a drone like effect on the wall shows as well as on the animals tour (David still uses it) try Electro Harmonix-Eletric Mistress Flanger.
This (along with the big muff I suppose) is "THE" Gilmour pedal.

It takes a little time to get the sound you want, but GREAT pedal.
It`s probaly one of the best flanger pedals ever.

bak2life: On the wall tour David used Electro-Harmonix`s Big Muff, but that was a vintage pedal, not the new ones I think.

And yeah don`t forget:

Big Muff
No problem, glad to help you. About the link you posted, yeah that might be a picture of the vintage eh`s big muff pedal-(probaly) 76-81, 82 or something, however I`m not sure.

Also a good piece of advice, I`ve heard this rumour about e-bay "vintage" big muff sellers:
There are supposed to be some asshole who have the reissue model, and try to trick people to sell it as a vintage model, because given the fact that the vintage (I think) from in the end of the 70`s-early 80`s looks very similiar to the reissue one, it`s probaly alot of poeple who have been ripped off.

So be careful, when your buying a vintage big muff.

they look the same, vintage, re-issue, it's a re-issue of the original so therefore if you're looking at photos of them externally its impossible to tell the difference.

just buy a new one, the difference will be negligable seeing as youve never played an original and you'll save yourself a lot of money.
