I got a rollng stones magazine today with the 100 saposidly greatest guitarist of all time. I opened it up to see some David Gilmour right on the last pageat 82. trailing behind Joan Jett. Who the hell put up this list. Eddy Van Halen is behind Kurt Kobain. What the hell he is number 12 on the list. Brian May is number 39 losing behind the guy from white stripes? Hes at 17. Beating carlos santana by 2. Who ever made this list can suck it. I just know there is gonig to be so many people complaining about this list.

Any list created by Rolling Stones or VH1 I don't really take into consideration that much. Music is such a subjective thing that you can't make a comprehensive list for it. I don't see why they bother. Makes good discussion material, though.

The only thing they did right was put Jimi Hendrix at #1 :blues:

Outrageous. We had a big rant about this on another board. 82? They have no clue what they're talking about.

It's bullshit. They don't really care about music. They just drew lots after placing Jimi on number one, which is the only thing they did right.

When it was launched, Rolling Stone was respected as the highest authority in music journalism. A beacon of light in a dark field. I don't follow it regularly - being in UK I get Mojo, the UK equivalent, on subscription - but the reports about the poll suggest it has finally lost its great respectability and sold out. What say yee who are more in touch with the magazine?

mojo is NOt the equivelent of Rolling Stone - Rolling Stone is much more mainstream and less stuck in the past
