i say dave, but then syd didnt do as much stuff as dave endied up doing, for all we know syd could have been 10 times better, but we'll never know.

I like Dave because of his unique sound and he was probably better live than Syd as well. The world may never know.

Dave is a better musician but Syd was a much better songwriter.

Dave can't write decent lyrics to save his ass. He can write music for Roger like no one else, but as far as writing his own stuff he is far below Syd. Witness the fact that on the Division Bell (which does suck indeed), he needed his wife and several others to help him with the lyrics. He had one triumph, Childhood's End, and that's it. Sorry, Dave.

But then, Syd couldn't play guitar like Dave to save his ass, so I guess it all evens out.
If it ain't dirty, don't clean it.

ok, is this about guitar talent or overall, I mean in my opinion while Syd was certainly very innovative as a guitarist he is no where near Dave's category...songwriting the exact opposite, but since this is in Guitar I must assume we are talking about guitar talent...no contest there IMO...Dave
