I prefer solid maple and c-shaped.

being an acoustic guitarist, i also prefer mapel. better strenght and durability. it carries resonace quiet well and tends to hold the sound much better.

I run the gamut on neck and fret board woods. I prefer the maple fretboards myself. C shape is also my fave, but a slight V is OK too as long as its not too drastic.
