RE: your top 5 favorite guitar players - and the bands they play for
I did put together a list here a few years back, but I'm guessing it included a few players that I was really into at the time. I've spent a fair amount of time the past few years listening to Robin Trower. Older members such as I will remember his Bridge of Sighs record that was released in maybe '74 or '75. This was his 2nd solo record after he left Procol Harum. He's had quite a lot of press the past few months because of his new 'Roots and Branches' CD that came out in February. I have it and it is amazing!

Robin has always been billed as the english "Hendrix", but has largley gone unnoticed in the US because of little to no radio airplay, other than "Day of the Eagle" & Too Rolling stoned" back in the 70's. He's very much like Gilmour in the fact that they're both influenced by the same Blues musicians and site Jimi Hendrix as a huge influence. They are different sounding Guitarists without a doubt, but have much in common as far as how they approach their unique styles. They are tireless workers who reach for perfection in every way.

That was what he called Pink Lloyd to keep the members of Pink Floyd from finding out he had a side gig.

1. David Gilmour- Of course he'd be number one, why else would I be here...?
2. Geezer Butler (Black Sabbath)- Bassists count! This man is my idol on the bass.
3. Bruce Franklin (Trouble)- Great doom-y, psychedelic riffs.
4. Ritchie Blackmore (Rainbow)- Another one of the few guitarists that just does everything right.
5. Craig Gruber (Rainbow)- Bassist, again. I love bass.

Edit:
6. Gus G. (Firewind)- Solely for his looks.
