I have a 212 B-52 tube amp, and for one of my songs, i cant seem to get the tones im looking for. If i could figure out how to upload a song from a gig of mine onto my comp., id let you hear it, but anyways: I want to use distortion, but the song needs all the notes to be very clear and audible. I need something that gives a slight distortion that keeps all the notes audible and not muddy. especially the top 2 strings.

Maybe boost your highs or use a bridge pickup? Or maybe don't use that much distortion, just overdrive or compression. Compression is a good way to get a really bright, jangly tone. On R.E.M.'s first album (Murmur) guitarist Peter Buck supposedly used two compression pedals to get his tone.

Another idea I just thought of - if you have a wah pedal, turn it on and push it all the way forward for a real bright tone.

My armchair advice here would be to back off on the pre gain, turn up the master to get less fuzz and more power tube distortion and really dig into the pick ups to overdrive the front of the amp. If you're looking for a device to help with that, look at the rangemasters and clones, you lose none of the bottom, but boost mids and highs with a little grit added, I think they are the most underrated pedal going.

Sounds like you just need a slight crunch rather than full on overdrive if thats the case, Put the clean channel gain low and the master volume really high
you should get a sweet tone with that.
