I prefer solid states as well. Tubes are hilariously outdated. They're a novelty. Greg Ginn of Black Flag actually prefers solid state because of the sharper tone. rocker

I have had decent results finding Dave's tones with a few different TUBE amps.Hiwatt, Sound City, Matamp, Fender. No comparison between tubes and SS. SS may be better for metal, but the good music always benefits from tubes, they feel great, unmistakable warmth and crunch. There have been a few ss amps that sound really good , Sunn, and Acoustic namely.

Thank-you for the replies. It may seem wierd, but I feel honored to play Pink Floyd and to be here. I ended up getting a Fender Roc Pro 1000 head and 4x12 Cab. Yes indeed, I do love my neighbors and their 7 dogs in one yard at 4:30am. What should my settings be? I hope I don't sound like a begginer, though I am kind of, I've been playing for 3 years now. But again, thank-you for all the replies, I really appreciate your help.

I wouldn't complain either hammers . Now as in bass 50 treble 40 mid 40 clean chanel gain 4 master volume 5, you mean 50 hrz for bass, 40hrz as treble, and 40 hrz for clean?
thanks
