Hello,
it seems there is confusion regarding the Notebook topic, perhaps my explanation in the Please read this first topic is confusing. So, the Notebook is basically designed for smaller topics that do not deserve a thread of their own. It is not a place for chatting, random and nonsense posts. Please note that Outside The Wall is a part of a forum, not a chatroom, there is an official chatroom on this site elsewhere And as such, forums are designed for reasonable discussion not for random talk. This off-topic random talk (also appearing in other topics here in Outside The Wall) only takes up space. So everybody please stick to the chatroom, PMs, e-mail, MSN and devices like that and keep Outside The Wall a forum with serious discussion on non-Pink Floyd topics rather than turning it into a chatroom itself.
Regards
Caravanserai

Well considering your pinned topic "Please read this before posting" has only had four views, I feel it is falling on deaf ears.
Correction, I just noticed you have started yet another version of that topic. Silly me. Well, le's hope it works.

I am a member from july 2005 (I am new here), and one of the things I like most about the forum was its high level of activity and the constructive and informative postings, even when arguments start. But recently I think we have a very anarquic forum, with no substancial (it is the correct word, isn't) posting, with a lot of nosense. This situation put a lot of stress to the moderators (who wants to run the forum with efficacy) and members, and result in bannings (I miss so much Scream, but it is another subject) and bad blood between the people who love this forum. I think is really urgent to put the record straight and have a little responsability and respect from each other. I am so disappointed...
Excuse me, but I have to say my opinion (and excuse my english)

No, your English was fairly good, (as I am assuming you don't speak it as a first language). I also think you have understood the problem extremely well, too many short, nonsensical posts that we would be fine without.
The whole affair with Scream opened our eyes up to the fact we have been letting too many minor and major infringements of the rules go unpunished. Scream broke them so many times, but we let him and then when he posted copyrighted material, he had to go, but because he and others had been let off so many times, couldn't a lot couldn't understand why. That's all over with though and has formed the basis of our current approach. Once people have settled into keeping to the rules again, normaility will return.
But I for one am not under stress. I rarely am, especially whilst here.

Well, his name was ScreamThylastScream
This will be the last time you'll hear it
Adn he was a very nice person, who had con structive posts
then one day he made a mistake, and then he got a box
he apologised after his actions, but then i came back and he was banned
This can only be due to the fact that he stood up for himself
He was a great man, who will surely be missed, he can only pm, but he told me that he doesnt care anymore about this site, and that life goes on
So lets not dwell on it......
and welcome, Keith, is it?

thank you, caravanaseri. but you miostook my post. i apologise. i was just asking what the two members did as compared to the rules of the board. again, i dont mean any fuss. i am asking fir the sake of me and other new people that come on the board that can see that banning can happen. it is just that i would like to know they broke the rules so bad that they got banned.
i have read somewhere that at least one moderator never deleted a post befor one of these members got banned.
thank you

I got along reasonably well with him, apart from at the end when he started to get abusive towards me, but that explanation was very one-sided. Essentially he posted links to commercially available material, which was actually produced at expense by W1P, a moderator here. Eventually, after lots of changing stories, and personal attacks against moderators, especially Kimbers, he started to back down, Jintzey returned from a two week break, felt we hadn't been hard enough and banned him from posting.
It's also ironic that a lot of those now sticking up for him referred to him as opinionated and stubborn when he was posting, (he would take an opinion that was different to his own and publicly ask you if you had a problem). This is our side of the story and, I feel, a little more balanced than the previous one you were told here. But, hopefully you can form the truth by reading both and seeing what matches up and what sounds more plausible. Now that really is it on the subject for me, and considering we are trying avoid the subject to allow the board to return to peace, I think it has been documented enough already.
As for the other guy banned, he came out in support and broke as many rules as possible and begged to be banned. I guess he was hoping people would equally come out in support of his ban, but they didn't seem to bother as much.
