the most contrversial punk group ever were a band called 'crass'. poltically, they were a thorn in govenments, othe punk star figures and religious bodies side.

they were british, and no american band will ever touch them. what came out of crass was a band named rudimentary peni, led by steve blinko. a self proclaimed nutter, who claimed to be the second english pope, adrian the 7th. whilst in a mental home, he wrote an album. when he got out, the band recorded it. the album contained 12 songs, and it was 12 minutes long.

i would advice your daughter, weiz, to try and get either bands albums. she will forget about american punk forever.

I could care less what Johnny Rotten likes or doesn't like. The Sex Pistols were complete, utter ****.

Yes, that film is brilliant.
There`s a bit where Johnny really gets cut-up about what McClaren & the record industry in general did to his friend Sid - his death is clearly something he carries with him.
I urge all who think the Pistols were crap, to watch it.

Yeah, I've read that before, but it's supposedly Rotten who showed up at McLaren's store wearing his self made shirt. I don't know. It was just an attention getting device anyway. I mean, what bigger band at the time to pretend you hate? I'm sure they knew that would make people talk.

The Sex Pistols are overrated. I much prefer The Clash.

The Sex Pistols for sheer impact - arguably the most explosive, influential debut, ever.
Yes, AC, The Clash clearly had more musical scope & longevity - branching out into rockabilly, pop & reggae - London Calling (1979), their finest moment?
