floydianyid Wrote:of course this is just what i think so keep on rocking coldplay fans but please don't compare them to meddle era floyd, come on are you seriously comparing pompeii to anything coldplay has ever done?
as for fighting for a cause please!!!!!!!!!!!!! ok coldplay and pop artists raise awareness but fighting muhahahahahahaha, if that was true chris should stop playing in a band and volunteer with global charities and services helping people around the world, maybe he could take gwyneth with him and save the world from destruction.
I never said anything about Coldplay being similar to Meddle era Floyd. In fact, I'm quite sure that they've jacked most of their ideas from Radiohead. I just like their mellow sound..."THEIR" mellow sound. Coldplay has a very distinctive style.
Martin is raising awareness for a good cause, while doing what he loves. You can't knock him for that. Anyway, I'm quite sure that he donates a pretty hansome percentage of his funds to relief efforts, so perhaps Coldplay is a bit of a charity orginization.
I hope I'm not offending anyone. I feel like I may be pushing buttons with this Coldplay issue. I'm sorry if that's the case.

I think its good kids are getting into classic rock. im 15 and see kids wearing zep and floyd shirts and other classic bands its great. because maybe the bands ten years from now will have a classic rock sound. and by sound i mean talent and versitility and indivuality. But honestly some kids are doing it to be cool. not me though haha. mr my friends. "Their biting our style man" ha

Yeah I've seen the kids wearing the Pink Floyd shirts and Led Zeppelin shirts to be cool and in and all that junk. I used to care a crapload, but now I just let them wallow in their "scene"-ness until someone tells them off or something.
I go to a huge high school, like 3,500 kids, and there are a bunch of people who wear Dark Side of the Moon shirts. I mean I see at least two or three kids each day wearing a DSOTM shirt (and I've got one, myself.) But I've never ever seen anyone wear any Pink Floyd shirt other than DSOTM. I mean, don't get me wrong; DSOTM is an amazing album, most definetly, but it seems like that's all they feel they should dabble in as far as Floyd goes. What about the rest of them? I've got a Wall shirt, and an Animals shirt, and I'm working on making an Ummagumma one, since I love that album so much. But really... I've talked to these kids before, and they say they're huge Pink Floyd fans. So I go, "Really? What are your favorite albums?" And they can only name one.
Actually, this girl that sits behind me in History class came in with an AC/DC shirt and I asked her what her favorite album was. She said "Back In Black" and then I asked her what her favorite song(s) were. She was like, "Uhm... ugh! I can't name any right now! I mean I can't pick just one! I love them all so much!" Honestly... I can't pick just one Floyd song, but at least I can name one or two (or a hundred, hahah.)
