I use iTunes generally with either the aac/mp3 files on my computer or CDs and have done for getting on 2 years or more now. I will occasionally use my hi-fi, but mainly for listening to LPs, (as it isn't in the same room as my computer, man I need that MacBook soon). I hope to get an Airport Express base station hooked up into my hi-fi at some point though to wirelessly play music from anywhere in my house. Portably, it's my iPod of course.

Which computer based media players do you use for music and/or video? If you don't listen through your computer, or like me combine systems, what do you use instead.

I get 4 telephones, call up rick, nick, roger and dave and tell them the song i want peformed. They then commence playing while i sit between the four telephones. When I need to take a break I tell them so and they obey.

I wanted to hear If while Roger was performing his huge Ca Ira production in Italy.... so he stopped the show for 5 minutes to play for me.

Thats the reason why the band hasnt done anything new lately, I've been taking too much time from them.

And then I found iTunes, and i didnt have to do that anymore. I love how it organizes stuff.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I hear iTunes' selection is garbage.

Anyway, I either use my mp3 player whether or I'm walking or
when I plug it into my car's tape deck. For home use, I just use my computer, which has some pretty ace speakers.

Expand. What selection are you talking about?

Real One & Windows Media on the PC, a old sterophonic record player I found at a flea market, my DVD player & the turntable. I am looking for a 8 Track player, I found some well preserved 8 Track tapes, three of which are Meddle, A Nice Pair & Dark Side Of The Moon recorded in Quad sound.

I used to use Winamp in the old days before iTunes for Windoze, but have never used WMP really that much.

I also use Real Player and Quicktime for video, although you can get 3rd party apps that attach themselves to QT for Mac and allow playback of avi, mpg and wmv files, making it the most versatile video player I guess. Can't say I've been too big a fan of the video playback in iTunes, but since it's effectively running through QT, I guess it's the same, just a poorer UI for video.
